Sunday morning, August 20th at 9:15 am. Our first Sunday in the Multi-Ministry Room with our new worship schedule. Standing on the platform in the MMR, the praise team and praise choir assembled. Oh my...GOSH I was so nervous! My stomach was twisted in a pretty good sized knot, I can still remember that feeling.
Here we were preparing to lead worship with a brand new sound system, a brand new media system, a new platform set-up, a new worship space, new chairs, opening with a new song. Oh yes, and a new way for our pastor to preach on Sunday mornings, delivering the sermon first in the traditional service and arriving in the contemporary service by 10:30.
Yep! I was over the top nervous! So many firsts, so many new things.
Speaking into the microphone I said, "Good Morning! Welcome to Mason United Methodist Church." And then, in the blink of an eye, it was over. Wow that went quick.
All the praises go to God! It was an amazing morning. Everything worked like it was supposed to work. Everything happened as it had been planned. And at the end of the morning, all God's people said, "Amen".
Sitting at home that evening, I thought back to how the morning went. It was in that reflection time that so many people's names and faces came to mind. People who gave so much of themselves over the past several months to make that "Amen" moment happen.
Perhaps you prayed. Perhaps you coordinated and organized. Perhaps you painted or hammered. Perhaps you practiced/rehearsed music. Perhaps you trained on new equipment. Perhaps you served in a new role. Perhaps you developed new ministries. Perhaps you gave through your tithes and offerings.
In this moment, I would like to thank you, each and every one of you for your gifts and service over these past months that have now ushered Mason UMC in to this next season of ministry and service, all to bring glory to God and expand His Kingdom.
Scripture from Romans 12:5 says, " so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
Perhaps you....are a beautiful part of the Body of Christ at Mason UMC.
And all God's people said:
