Something struck me while I attended my bible study today and I was unable to express my thoughts, well at least the way I wanted to.....ever happen to you? It was our last day to gather until after the holidays, and we went around the room to sum up what words spoke to us the most from the book we have been reading.
This group I have been meeting with are all women my age. We meet on Friday mornings and smile together with our morning eyes over coffee still steaming from our take-to-go-from-home cups after the hustle and bustle of providing a smooth morning for our kids before school (ha ha well most days). The book we have been reading and just finished up is entitled...."The Best Yes" by Lysa Terkeurst.....which you may have already read. It has been out for some time now.
My thoughts this morning as we went around the room? "WOW has this been a week. You may want to grab yourself something stronger than coffee to get through my story from this week!" But those words did not come out of my mouth. Instead I fell silent, listening, nodding and giggling with those next to me. I am one of a handful that is not family or originally close friends in the group. We do not have hours on end, just one hour to more or less go around the room, so I fell silent this particular Friday. Maybe it was all in the grand scheme of His plan ha ha .....if I would have dove in and expressed all my dots that were connecting ....we would have been there for days on end.
Excerpt from the book:
"We will have a very hard time paying attention to those Best Yes answers if we live lives that are completely spent. Instead why not completely spend yourself on the assignments that are yours, those moments you shouldn't dare miss, the calling that pulses in your soul, the love you and only you can offer"
When Pastor Dale spoke of choosing how to serve. That calling....those BEST YES ANSWERS.....that.....yes that passage spoke volumes.
This book, OH this book has stirred something in me. As always, in His timing, as the chaos of the season begins, it has been such a reminder to choose my best YES! We will all become busy. Missing the small details of the everyday. Crossing off our lists. Packing our days with extra. Extra everything. Possibly missing the big picture.
"Let's use the two most powerful words, yes and no, with resounding assurance, graceful clarity, and guided power. All so people may see Jesus when they see us. Hear Jesus when they hear us. And know Jesus when they know us."
Choose your best YES this season.
All my very best....Kami
