If you go to our church website and click on "Read More" on the opening screen, you will have an opportunity to hear Pastor Dale give a two minute talk about our community of faith and the opportunity viewers might have to join our mission. In that two minute talk, Dale uses the phrase - - - "Put skin and bones on the good news of God's love."
On Thursday, February 8, our team of SAGES leaders held their monthly planning meeting to discuss and make decisions about the kind of ministry activities we will be involved in for February, March, and April. We are organized in line with the vision of our Church, that is, "To be a REACHING, NUTURING, SENDING community of committed followers of Jesus." Many of the things we are working on came from suggestions or ideas at our January meeting, or even last year. Now we are putting the finishing touches on them and birthing new ideas for the coming months.
Kathy Maehler and Kathy Zimmerman spearhead our REACHING events and activities. They are great at coming up with interesting and fun ways to celebrate life and God at work in the special occasions and seasons of our life. They know the tradition of having a luncheon at the same place on the second Monday of each month, helps us make new Christian friends and solidify long-time relationships. They always have something interesting to do while the food is being prepared. Like this coming Monday, (February 12, the second Monday of course) Kathy Maehler will have us participate in a Presidential Game based on birthdays of some of our former presidents. O'Charley's on Fields Ertel Road near I-75 has plenty of space for us and good food at a reasonable price. In March the REACHING team is planning a St. Patrick's Theme for the Second Monday Luncheon. There will be a "Movie Get-Together" on March 21. And, a "Garden Event" is being planned for April 25. Come on out, bring a friend or friends, and help us "Put skin and bones on the good news of God's Love."
Kim Ward, with Kathy Zimmerman's help, spearheads our NUTURING efforts. Kim is organizing a Lenten Prayer Station event from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on Wednesday, February 21. There will be seven stations throughout the church to allow you time to prayerfully experience the season of Lent. Another NUTURING event will start on March 6. Kim and Kathy will lead a study based on Adam Hamilton's book, "Creed." It' a video/study guide presentation (not requiring a reading of the book) that explores the Apostle's Creed, a historical statement of the foundational belief of our Christian Faith. This study will be held every Tuesday, March 6 through April 10. If you cannot attend them all, not to worry, each study stands alone. Contact a friend or friends and get in touch with Kim at 513-967-7360 to sign up (let her know if an evening study is of interest). This could be a great way to grow in your Christian Faith this Lenten season, and as Pastor Dale says - - - - "Put skin and bones on the good news of God's Love."
Mary Wortham and Sue Wiseman spearhead our SENDING activities. They are organizing a new program called "Two-by-Two Visitation." They are looking for fellow Christians willing to go with a partner to visit people in our community who are not able to attend church. This could be a friend, neighbor or relative you might know. Please contact Mary (513-313-3818) or Sue (513-398-211) if you would like to help or know of someone to visit. They will again, organize an effort in late April to feed homeless people in our community. Under Mary and Sue's direction our SAGES are always looking for ways to serve - - - - "Put skin and bones on the good news of God's love." Being involved with the SAGES Older Adult Ministry is one way to do exactly that.
See you at Church,
