What a dreary couple of weeks we've had with all the rain. It has definitely given me a chance to spend more time inside and get a jump start on my spring cleaning. Something we all likely dread but are glad when its done. It tends to give us a renewed sense of excitement on life. It made me start thinking though - not only is this time to clean out the closet that likely would get me on the show Hoarders - its also a time to do a spring cleaning internally on my walk with Christ.
I've incurred a lot of job change over the past three years with my company being bought and sold twice in a six-month period. During that time, there was a lot of uncertainty, not knowing what my future employment would hold.
We all go through change, turmoil and hurt in our lives. Often as a result, we then hold resentment or bitterness for the things that may have changed or people or things that we feel have wronged us. I know I did. I think what I have always tried to live by though, is to rely on my faith and don't let the turmoil or chaos in my life change who I am.
As we go through those difficult times we need to rely on God even more. As spring is right around the corner, what better time to start spring cleaning in your life. What are those things that you are holding onto.
As I look back on some of the resentments and bitterness and hurt that I was holding onto I realize it all stemmed from me feeling like I was let down. I opened up my heart and trusted in someone. Whether it's a friendship, a work situation or something that has happened at church we tend to feel betrayed. You owe it to yourself to hand those over to the Lord. John 16:33 In ME you may have Peace.
We need to open our hearts to forgiveness. I encourage you to do a little spring cleaning in your lives. It does wonders for your soul!
Love in Christ,
