The subject of bravery has not only been filling my bookshelf lately, but has appeared in recent conversations with friends, played out in close family members' lives and has peeked around the corner in my day-to-day daily activities. Have you ever experienced this? When somehow you start stumbling across a consistent message and after what feels like being hit over the head with it for several weeks, you think to yourself, "hmmmnnn, maybe I should take notice....God is certainly trying to tell me something."

I have been reading "Big Magic - Creative Living Beyond Fear" by Elizabeth Gilbert. She talks about the treasures hidden inside you that are hoping you say a resounding "YES!" to. I experienced this in an art class recently taught by my sister. She stood at the front of the class and instructed us to "just play". Looking around at the class, I noticed that I was not alone. Many people sat with a puzzled look on their face. We were instructed to let loose, BE BRAVE and to "not think" it seemed a challenging task. When was the last time you were given some free time to just not think and create?

I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone this week. Sign up for something you would not normally. Have a conversation with someone you would not normally strike up a conversation with. Sign up to serve in a ministry you would not normally serve with. Reach out beyond what you are accustomed to and see where it takes you. Even the smallest shift can give you a whole new perspective.

Reaching out beyond your comfort zone can crack open a world of wonder and joy. As we venture into the midst of summer, grab hold of the unknown. Fill your days with a new mindset. Sign up, swim, and move forward to a place that will allow you to simply be yourself.

BE BRAVE. PLAY. SEEK. And TRUST.

God is with you. He takes delight in your play!

All my best, Kami Ohmer
