At Mason UMC we talk about that as God’s mission. We believe that God is on mission to renew people’s lives and the world. Psalm 104 refers to the scope of God’s work as “the face of the earth.”
We have made attempts to help us all live on that mission with God. They haven’t all been as successful as we had hoped or would have liked. Here’s some good news: We serve a God whose mercies are new every morning. Here’s some more good news: at least we try! Many churches don’t even attempt to find ways to bridge the church with the US culture. It is at the core of who we aspire to be.
I promise you, we are going to simplify our language. We are going to define what we mean by missional living and discipleship. We are creating simple tools to help equip us. These, among others, will be things that help us all be on the same page, speak a common language, and feel like we can be a part.
