Why does God let bad things happen to Good people? How do we really know if we are going to Heaven when we die? What is the meaning of my life and why are we here? What is it that I truly believe and why do I believe it? Why is it important to take confirmation and what does it mean? These are just a few questions that the 18 youth participating in confirmation have been wondering and asking within the last 10 week along the wonderful journey of confirmation. Have we answered all these questions? No. Do we as adults have these same questions that we ask ourselves? Yes! These are just some of the questions that allow our faith to grow deeper.
. . . . . .
The last few weeks, it has been incredible wonderful to listen to discussion from these teens about their faith and how they are starting to understand the journey of what faith really means. Taking the first steps in their walk with Christ and starting to make their Faith their own, has been something that we have been talking about every Sunday. Learning through interactive prayer stations one week, learning through missional stations another week, diving into the bible and reading different verses and understanding what they mean in their life, talking about their different spiritual gifts, and journaling to end every confirmation class are just a handful of ways in which they are building a strong foundation in Christ and what it means to follow Him.
We aren’t always going to have answers for the hard questions about life and that’s when our faith has the opportunity to grow bigger. It is in those times that you can gather as brothers in sisters in Christ and start to have the conversations to be able to grow together and make your faith stronger. We can discover together and learn together to grow deeper in our relationship with Christ. Which is what these 18 confirmation teens have been doing, and I am just blessed to be able to witness it each week.
